What is a Traffic Infraction?


An infraction  is not a crime but is an act that is in violation of a law, such as a traffic law or a civil requirement, for example speeding and illegal parking. Infractions are recorded with the issuance of a ticket by local  or State law enforcement.

If you are found to have commited or voluntarily admit to have commited an infraction the Court may impose a penalty, but carries no jail sentence.Some examples of traffic infractions and non-traffic infractions are:
